Eligibility:
Persons must be 21 years old and eligible to be issued an Illinois FOID Card under Illinois Law 430 ILCS 65/. Refer to the specific laws that apply on the Illinois State Police website: www.isp.state.il.us.
The Training:
You will receive relevant training pursuant to the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act and all required legal sections under the FOID Act and Illinois Use of Force Statutes. Additionally, you will receive specific training on the following: Proper Defensive Mindset, Basic Firearms Safety, Home, Vehicle, and Public Storage, Basic Principles of Marksmanship, Handgun and Ammunition Selection, Cleaning and Maintenance, Loading and Unloading, Fundamentals of Gun Handling, Drawing from Concealment, Dry and Live Fire Practice. All conducted in a professional, yet relaxed student environment.
Registration:
Class size will be limited to 10 students. Tuition is $100.00 per person for the 16 hour class ($60.00 for the 8 hour class). Students must be pre-registered. Interested parties can register by email to: acsshooting@yahoo.com. Your email should contain the following information: Your name, telephone number, method of payment – cash or personal check (to be paid upon arrival at the class), and if you have waivered prior training as listed in the IFCC Act. Upon receiving your registration email, a course rules and administration sheet will be emailed back to you with additional information. Equipment:
You will need the following items for this course: 1) A defensive caliber handgun (.22 Caliber handguns are acceptiable for this class). Rental guns are available. 2) 50 rds of target ammunition. 3) At least 1 usable magazine for your handgun. 4) Eye and ear protection. 5) Note taking material. All other equipment will be emailed to you as part of your enrollment packet. An ISP Certificate of Completion will be provided at the end of the class.
Waivered Training:
If you have approved prior training you are eligible to only take the second 8 hours of training in this class. Examples of waivered prior training include: NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Personal Protection in the Home, NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home, Active, Retired, or Honorably Discharged Member of the US Armed Forces (copy of DD214 required). If you have waivered prior training, you must provide these certificates for review by our staff before attending the training.
